NIST Seeks Participants for Cybersecurity Demonstration Project.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published an announcement in the Federal Register inviting interested organizations (e.g., vendors, academia, and integrators) to participate in a new demonstration project focusing on cybersecurity. The demonstration project is part of NIST’s National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) Secure Exchange of Electronic Health Information project, which is charged with “accelerating the widespread adoption of integrated cybersecurity tools and technologies.” According to NIST’s announcement, “The goal for this project is to provide a security platform to enable small healthcare providers to exchange electronic health information in support of the U.S. federal government and the health IT community.”

Interested organizations should contact NIST to obtain a certification letter, and submit their signed certification letters by March 1, 2013. More information about the project can be found here.
