I just started a 10 week HIT course, and i agree — we may very well be worse off here in the 21st century, esp. since people relocate and have to find new docs more often.

I was tempted to send an email to the ONC saying “and you want it WHEN??!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!” but i don’t think they’d appreciate my laughter! 😀

Okay. Fair enough. 🙂 If anything I would imagine that the 2010 representation should actually be worse. I did a final project that included describing said scenario and the conversion to digital filing.

He did it tongue in cheek, you know. He made a little joke about the only change between how we kept records in the 40’s and how we keep them today basically is as small as just using technicolor. He and his co-presenter actually have a little laugh about it …. 🙂

@ 7:52 could you at least not have the exact same photo just in black in white versus color to represent the 1940 vs 2010? The same file is pulled out in the center and there is still a box on the top of the shelf in both photos. ):-(

One important feature that the presenter shared was implementation timeline, the need to do an all out imlementation may not be the best process due to organizational structure. The process of a slow and meticulous implementation to start will allow for a more efficient and rapid process after the bugs are ironed out. This concept support a phased in approach with advanced departments taking the lead to demonstrate commitment and loyalty to the organization’s objective.

One of the best videos, by a physician, on the use of EHR/EMR technology, that I’ve seen. Although it’s clearly a marketing tool for IngenixCareTracker, it’s very well done and can be used to help educate those laggers in the private physician practice arena.
