The theft of a password-protected unencrypted desktop computer from the Albany, Ga.-based Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital has compromised the information of 6,777 patients.
After conducting a detailed review of the incident, which affected patients between May 2010 and October 2013, Phoebe determined that the computer might have contained patient information, including patient names, addresses, dates of birth, dates of service, physician’s names, and diagnosis information.
