All too often, usability issues can hamper the successful implementation of technology in healthcare settings. For instance, in a recent survey of electronic health record consultants, analysts, managers and support team members, 88 percent cited lack of focus on usability as the primary reason they believe many EHR companies will be out of business by 2017. To that end, Mike Butler, a healthcare consultant at Newton Center, Mass.-based Hayes Management Consulting, says that there is still hope.
